Lesson 7 – Parenting Advice from Proverbs - Proverbs 23:15,17

Tonight’s lesson from Proverbs deals with a topic on which there is no shortage of advice or information. Books about parenting children have been published for close to 400 years now. The English verb “to parent” was first used around 1660, and there has been an industry building around teaching people how to parent ever since. Of course, the Bible has much to say about the role of parents and children. There is no shortage of thoughts about how to parent, and it can even be a controversial subject. Though none of us will ever be perfect parents or grandparents, we can place our confidence God’s Word when we follow its teaching on any subject. What does Proverbs teach us about parenting and guiding children in general.

Scripture References: Proverbs 5:1-7, Proverbs 22:6, Proverbs 23:15, Proverbs 4:1-20, Proverbs 29:15, Proverbs 3:11-12, Proverbs 22:15, Proverbs 3:1, Proverbs 23:22-23, Proverbs 20:7, Proverbs 2:1-5, Proverbs 13:24, Deuteronomy 6:5-9, Proverbs 1:7-15, Proverbs 9:10, Genesis 1:28, Proverbs 23:17
