Lesson 6 - Things God Hates - Proverbs 6:12-19 - Wednesday Evening Bible Study

When I was a teenager, God used certain people to help direct my life toward Him. One of these people was the program director of the Wilds at the time, Rand Hummel. During messages, prayers, and counseling sessions, I heard him say many times, “Love what God loves, and hate what God hates.” This evening, we are going to look at a list that Proverbs gives us of things that God hates. The word hate is a common word, and it is one that I think we all can understand the basic sentiment. In the Bible, this word is most often translated as “hate”, but it often carries with it the thought of being directed toward an enemy. This list can be regarded as things that God sees in those that are enemies against Him. Let’s purpose to hate what God hates and love what He loves. We can note that these things encompass different of the body, heart, and thoughts: eyes, mouth, hands, heart, and feet.

Scripture References: Psalms 27:12, Proverbs 24:2, Matthew 11:28-29, Proverbs 19:5, Genesis 6:5, Psalms 18:27, Proverbs 1:16, Proverbs 12:17, Deuteronomy 19:10, Psalms 101:5, Proverbs 16:25, Revelation 21:8, Isaiah 59:1-8, Proverbs 30:11-14, Proverbs 14:12, Matthew 12:34-35, Proverbs 28:17, Proverbs 6:12-19, Proverbs 9:10-18, Romans 3:12-14, Proverbs 28:25, Proverbs 23:7, Proverbs 12:22
