Lesson 1 - Proverbs 16 - Midweek Prayer Meeting

A Study of Proverbs

For the summer months, we will be looking at select passages from another Old Testament "wisdom book", the book of Proverbs. Studying the book of Proverbs is a wise thing (pun intended), but it is important to always keep the proper perspective on the book. The book of Proverbs is different from the other wisdom books (Job, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon) that offer more abstract wisdom to handle issues broader than general human experience. Proverbs focuses on practical wisdom handling everyday issues and experiences of life. However, it can still be challenging to develop a proper understanding of its teachings.

Scripture References: Proverbs 17:4, Psalms 75:6-7, Proverbs 3:5, Psalms 11:6, Proverbs 17:23, Psalms 139:1-13, Proverbs 16:1-33, Luke 11:9-10, Proverbs 19:1, Acts 17:26, Matthew 7:7-8, Proverbs 10:4, Psalms 22:28, Genesis 22:7-8, Proverbs 20:4, Psalms 135:6, Philippians 4:19, Proverbs 25:14, Daniel 4:35, Psalms 121:1-2, Proverbs 10:12
