Lesson 6 - Faithful to Doctrine - 1 Timothy 1:3-11 - Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting

So far in our study of “Church Essentials”, we have discussed things like Bible authority, discipleship, evangelism, faith, and personal holiness. All of these are positive things in the life of any Christian or local church body. Of course, there are differences of opinion on each of these topics and many others. How do we as Christians decide the best way to approach these essentials? We do this with faithfulness to Biblical doctrine. The word “doctrine” can often sound formal, scary, or contentious; however, the Biblical word for doctrine simply means teaching. How are the decisions of a Christian and the teachings of a church decided? God tells us exactly where our doctrine should find its roots: in the Bible. Rather than try to cover every doctrine of Scripture in an evening, lets look at a description and an illustration of Bible doctrine.

Scripture References: Luke 20:27-40, 1 Timothy 1:3-11, Exodus 3:1-22
