James Sumpter – Lead Pastor
James Sumpter has served as senior pastor at LBC since 2020. He served as an assistant and youth pastor here for eleven years before being called as pastor. He has spent almost his whole life around LBC. He was saved as a twelve year old and surrendered His life to Jesus as a teenager. After finishing college in 2009, he returned to LBC and has served in a variety of roles.
James has been married to his wife Joy since 2009. They have a daughter named Ellie, two sons named Boston and Lexington. He enjoys anything outdoors and loves to read. James loves spending time with people personally and seeks to disciple others.
He strives to see others come to know Jesus Christ in a personal way with real spiritual growth. An emphasis on the Gospel of Jesus, is prevalent in his teaching and preaching.
Ken Crain – Assistant Pastor/Business Administration
Ken Crain came to Landmark in 1976. He taught in Christian school ministries for thirty-eight years, and served as the principal of Landmark Christian School for twenty-eight years. He has served as an ordained assistant to the pastor and acting treasurer since 2013.
He holds several degrees including: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Missouri State University; Graduate of Theology, Baptist Bible College (Springfield); Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education, Sacremento Baptist College; and Doctorate of Education / School Administration from Louisiana Baptist University. He and his wife Nancy have two sons and a daughter who graduated from Landmark Christian School. He enjoys spending time with his family including six grandchildren, working outside, and going to the beach.
Gordon Young – Music Ministry
Gordon Young was saved and baptized at the age of seven in Wayne, MI. He graduated from Bible college in 1987. His love for praising God with song, and encouraging others to do the same has kept him in music ministry these many years. He has also served as youth pastor, teacher, Bible college professor, and assistant pastor. God led him to serve on the staff of Landmark Baptist Church in 2012.
He and his wife Kathy have five adult children, four sons in law, 1 daughter in law, and ten grandchildren living in California, Colorado, Ohio, and Texas. Family is of utmost importance to them. Both their physical family and their church family here at Landmark.
