Esther - Lesson 1 - Introduction: Who Knows? - Esther 1:1-9 - Midweek Prayer Meeting 1-4-2023
The quick summary of the book of Esther reads a little bit like a Cinderella story. The radical life transformation of a beautiful Jewish orphan girl living in a foreign land raised by her older cousin before being chosen from a princess court as the next queen of the most powerful kingdom in the world. Meanwhile, an evil villain plots to destroy an entire people based on his personal hatred particularly toward the wise mentoring cousin. So, what possible relevance could be held for us in an account from 2,500 years ago of events in what is modern day Iran? That’s a great question we will ask over the next few weeks. To find its personal meaning for us, we must first discover its broader meaning in the Word of God.
Scripture References: Esther 4:11, Esther 2:13-14, Esther 1:1-9, Romans 15:4
