Lesson 2 – Scriptural Authority and Our Submission To It Titus 2:15, 2 Timothy 2:15-16
When we consider the essentials (a thing that is absolutely necessary) of our individual faith and our church life, we cannot go far without answering questions about authority. What is the final authority of our belief and practice? Fortunately, we have a very clear answer. Part of what sets us apart from catholic and even other church traditions is that we believe the Bible is our “sole authority” for faith and practice. No human or church decree can override the rule of God’s Word in our lives. The Holy Scripture is the only sufficient, certain and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith and obedience. 2 Timothy 3:15-16, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:3,20-21
