Lesson 37 - Paul's Conversion - Wednesday Prayer Meeting - 8-11-2021
A Sweeping Wave From a "New" Faith In our last lesson, we examined the spread of the Gospel through the scattering of the church. One evidence often listed for the truth of the resurrection is the relentless commitment of Christ’s followers in the days and months after His ascension. We saw that the persecution of the church did not weaken God’s mission and purpose but strengthened and accomplished it. Acts 1-9 covers about three years in the timeline of history. During that time, thousands of people were converted, and God began to establish His church throughout the world. Many other religions had and would be established throughout history. Some of them were established by violence, authority, schemes, and tricks while some of them simply by length of time. Christianity, however, is different then all others. It was not spread by battle or war. It did not reward its followers with influence or riches. It did not take centuries to gain adherents. It spread by the power of God and the Gospel. It did not conquer lands, kingdoms, or cities. It conquered people's hearts. One amazing fact about the Gospel is that it does not seek to crush its enemies; it seeks to win them by inviting them to come. This element of the Gospel may best be seen in the life and conversion of Saul of Tarsus.
